RIP Yumyum. So glad you and your family were able to give her and Koko a loving home. It’s funny that her sibling Portland’s temperament is very similar. He’d kind of a dick, but we love him anyway (he is a cat after all).
When we first took in Yumyum and her siblings a pet rescue org paired us with a mama cat whose kittens had already been adopted, but was still lactating. Yumyum and crew were mostly weaned, but still eagerly took to their new mama. We ended up keeping the mama cat, and she was with us until 2021. Before she passed an x-ray revealed she had a BB embedded in her chest since her early days on the streets of Atlanta. She was one hard core cat. I like to think her toughness was passed on to Yumyum and her siblings.
My cat loving heart feels you. And there are those we truly never stop aching for. Henrì, who brought me bamboo shoots as gifts from the backyard, Colette who was little and cuddly and precious, Butch who bit and brought in tiny rabbits (oh no) and Violette who climbed the grass cloth wall covering and threw up only on some sort of textile. I am old, so there have been many others and I’m 100 percent convinced they gave us more than we ever gave them.
I recently learned that cats will pee on our stuff to strengthen our bond with them. In cat logic, mingling scents helps everyone to be better friends.
Makes me feel bad about all the times I stomped and cursed when my departed kitty, Mecca, peed on my big art project. She was just feeling insecure, targeting the thing she thought I loved more than I loved than her. Lesson learned. Cats before art.
Sweet tribute. Missing that girl.
RIP Yum Yum. Gone but not forgotten. Though you were a pain in the ass now you are a pain in our hearts.

Her strong personality made her both irritating and beloved. She always seemed so much smarter and wiser than the crowd of dipshits she left behind.
That's wild about the BB.

💔I will miss you too, grumpy girl.
RIP. It is amazing to what extent we have become accustomed to living together with these more or less wild animals.

I’m glad people aren’t like that.
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.
